2010 Winner, EVAN B.. and his Prizes!!! ATTACK ANNOUNCES THEIR 8th ANNUAL SUMMER ESSAY CONTEST!!! Attack, which is nationally known it's educational programs for children, has announced that it will be running the Eighth Annual Summer Essay Contest. The program will run from Monday June 27th through Monday, Labor day, September 5th. This contest gives kids the chance to learn while earning sports cards and while having the chance to win great prizes. Each week a one page (not over) handwritten essay is required on a personality named by the store. All the subjects this summer will be related in some way to baseball but will also be human interest stories. All those taking part will be required to do research either through the internet or library. When handing in their essay, the writer will be given free sports cards. A winning essay will be selected each week and will also be placed on display in the store with the winners receiving packs of cards. All the winning essay's will be given to a special judge in September. The judge will select the winner for the entire summer. In the past essay's were given to a local dignitaries including Freeholder Alex Mirabella, Union Mayor Anthony Terrezza , ESPN Radio Personality Bill Daughtry, and Larry Jordan, Hobby Division Manager for Upper Deck Company and older brother of basketball great Michael Jordan. The winners in the past have received prizes ranging from boxes of cards, card sets and Yankees book bags. In 2004 the Mayor also presented 2004's two winners with the Mayor's Award at a Union Township Committee Meeting! The winner of last year's contest was announced on Saturday, October 2nd at a special Pack Wars Contest. Evan Berney, a 9 year old Mountainside youth was named the winner of the 2010 Contest. Evan was selected for his essay on former NY Jets owner Sonny Werblin. Evan, a customer at Attack for almost three years is an avid baseball player and member of the M.T.S.C. travel team. He also plays soccer and basketball and is a 4th grader at Deerfield School. Serving as the judge this year was Mr. Richard Seidlitz, Director of Licensing for the National Football League. REVAMPED PACK WARS TO RETURN TO ATTACK IN THE FALL!!! ATTACK has announced that it will be doing the first major renovation to it's popular Pack Wars contest just in time for it's eleventh anniversary this coming fall. Attack was the first New Jersey store to hold this event which is now played nationwide. Pack Wars is a sports-collectibles carnival, game show, and circus all rolled into one and it takes place right at Attack of the Baseball Cards. Pack Wars is perfect for families and the serious collector. The event is centered around an afternoon of friendly Pack Wars (19 rounds) in which all participants keep their cards but win prizes. In between rounds collectors try their luck at sports trivia questions; answer a question correctly and you can take a prize. Door prizes are also awarded between rounds of Pack Wars as well as Price Challenges where customers can will a card if the know it's selling price. Plus, each event features a Pack Wars Prize Chest filled with dozens of prizes ranging from cards to packs, boxes, sets, autographs & memorabilia. The last of the original format Pack Wars was held at ATTACK on May 21, 2011. The Top Prize Winner, Tommy G. from East Brunswick, selected as his Top Prize an autographed baseball signed by deceased 500 Home Run Baseball Hall of Famer HARMON KILLEBREW, valued at $300.00. Killebrew lost his battle with cancer just a few days prior to that Pack Wars Contest. Other prizes that evening included cards signed by Hall of Famers NOLAN RYAN & RAY DANDRIDGE. To attend the event an admission ticket is required and will go on sale Labor Day Weekend. Each customer will receive Pack Wars Bucks to cover the cost of the purchased admission ticket. Kids can play ATTAX at ATTACK!!! KIDS CARDS NITE WITH TOPPS ATTAX TOURNAMENTS COMING TO ATTACK! A special KIDS CARDS NITES, are great new evenings of contests & games for kids at Attack. Now held at least one a month, the event is an hour and a half long. Parents can drop off their kids an go out for a quality dinner.
