2009 Winner, ROBERT P. and his Prizes!!! SEVENTH ANNUAL WEEKLY SUMMER ESSAY CONTEST STARTS JUNE 28th! For the seventh summer Attack of the Baseball Cards will be hosting the Summer Student Essay Contest. Open to all youngsters, the contest will run from Monday, June 28th through Labor Day. This contest will give kids the chance to learn while earning sports cards and while having the chance to win great prizes. Each week a one page (not over) handwritten essay will be required on a personality named by the store. All the subjects will be sports related in some way but will have human interest stories mostly outside of sports. All those taking part will be required to do research either through the internet or library. When handing in their essay, the writer will be given free sports cards. A winning essay will be selected each week and will be hung in the store with the winners receiving packs of cards. All the winning essay's will be given to a special judge at the end of the summer. The judge will select the winner for the entire summer. In the past essay's were given to a local dignitaries including Freeholder Alex Mirabella, Union Mayor Anthony Terrezza , ESPN Radio Personality Bill Daughtry, and Larry Jordan, Hobby Division Manager for Upper Deck Company and older brother of basketball great Michael Jordan. 2009 contest winner was Robert Proko of Mountainside. Robert was a 3rd grade student at Deerfield School in Mountainside. The, then eight year old been a customer, an avid card collector, Robert has been a fall soccer player and also plays Little League, travel & fall baseball. The winning essay by Robert was about Eddie Gaedel. Gaedel was a 3 foot 7 inch dwarf who batted one time as a Major League Baseball player for the St. Louis Browns in 1951. Gaedel walked on four pitches and Major League Baseball ruled future player contracts needed league approval. The winners in the past have received prizes ranging from boxes of cards, card sets and Yankees book bags. In 2004 the Mayor also presented 2004's two winners with the Mayor's Award at a Union Township Committee Meeting! KIDS CARDS NITE (DAY) BIG HIT at ATTACK! KIDS CARDS DAY SPECIAL TO FEATURE TOPPS ATTAX TOURNAMENT AT ATTACK ON GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 2nd KIDS CARDS NITE (DAY), is a great new evening (day) of contests & games for kids at Attack. Now held at least one a month, the event is an hour and a half long. Parents can drop off their kids an go out for a quality dinner. At $20 per child, the kids get to play Topps Attax (board game), Pack Wars (pack game) and Card Flipping. Every child receives FREE CARD PACKS while having the chance to win prizes. On Good Friday, April 2nd Attack will hold a Special KIDS CARDS DAY featuring a demonstration and tournament of 2010 Topps ATTAX Baseball Card Game. Each child will receive FREE TOPPS ATTAX PACKS to play the game. Returning customers of Cards Nite who bring first time players receive discounts. NFL PLAYER OF THE DAY CONTEST WINNER ANNOUNCED! National NFL Player of the Day Contest at Attack, started on September 10th and ran through the Super Bowl! Attack of the Baseball Cards has been a participating store in the Nation NFL Player of the Day Contest, this for the ninth consecutive football season. Throughout the season winners received prizes that include Player of the Day packs, action figures, NFL pins and autograph & memorabilia cards. ANN P. from Mountainside was Attack of the Baseball Cards top prize in the 2009 NFL Player of the Day Contest. Ann was one of over 150 customers to enter the season long contest. Attack entered Ann into the national grand prize drawing where she will have a chance to win additional prizes from the NFL. The NFL will announce National Grand Prize Winner shortly. More than 200,000 national NFL card collectors participated in the 2008 NFL Player of the Day contest, which was sponsored at more than 700 hobby shops nationwide.

Customers show Topps Sterling packs at Pack Wars! MINI PACK WARS SCHEDULED FOR LATE JULY AT ATTACK!!! ATTACK has announced that a SPECIAL SUMMER MINI PACK WARS will be held in late July. The next full Pack Wars will be in early October with Admission Tickets going on sale Labor day Weekend at ATTACK! PACK WARS BUCKS ARE ALWAYS GREAT FOR GIFTS!! This past fall, Pack Wars celebrated it's ninth anniversary as a staple contest at Attack. Attack was the first New Jersey store to hold this event which is now played nationwide. Pack War is a sports-collectibles carnival, game show, and circus all rolled into one and it takes place right at Attack of the Baseball Cards. Pack Wars is perfect for families and the serious collector. The event is centered around an afternoon of friendly pack wars (19 rounds) in which all participants keep their cards but win prizes. Among the packs used in the last Pack Wars was a round of Press Pass new Bull Rider (rodeo) cards. In between rounds collectors try their luck at sports trivia questions; answer a question correctly and you can take a prize. Door prizes are also awarded between rounds of Pack Wars as well as Price Challenges where customers can will a card if the know it's selling price. Plus, each event features a Pack Wars Prize Chest filled with dozens of prizes ranging from cards to packs, boxes, sets, autographs & memorabilia. To attend the event an admission ticket is required. Each customer will receive Pack Wars Bucks to cover the cost of the purchased admission ticket. The prize for this SPECIAL BOX BREAK the prize provided by UPPER DECK was TWO TICKETS for the 2010 MICHAEL JORDAN BRAND (ALL-AMERICAN) CLASSIC at Madison Square Garden.
