ATTACK TO HOST BASEBALL CARD COLLECTING CAMPS FOR KIDS!
Attack has announced that to will hold a series of Baseball Card Collecting Camps. The camps are recommended for children aged 7-14. The children will learn about card collecting, the history of sportscards, the history of baseball and biographies of various athletes from all sports. The camps will also include lots of games including Card Flipping, Pack Wars & Topps Attax (card game). Each child will receive free cards and supplies each week. The dates of the camp session will be announced shortly, Early registration will begin soon and will cost $40.00 per child for the four days. There will be a more in depth camps this coming summer. The summer camps will run for half a day from 9:00am to Noon. These camps will cost $75.00 be child and will include a snack as well as free cards and supplies each day. ATTACK OFFERS MLBPA'S HOBBY COLLECTING SEMINARS FOR LOCAL SCOUTS & YOUTH GROUPS!
The Major League Baseball Players Association has announced an exciting seminar program for scouts, youth groups and sports teams. for scouts the new den meeting program available for Boy, Cub and Webelos Scouts and Attack of the Baseball Cards will be a participating store! Packs and other groups are invited to visit Attack to learn all about baseball cards, ways to collect them and play fun card games. Scouts will be able to earn the Wolf Achievement #6: Start A Collection and the Bear Elective #22: Collecting Things! All children who attend the learning seminars will receive a free Starter Kit featuring packs of Major League Baseball trading cards and a collector album to store their new cards and a collectors guide booklet as well as cards from Attack. Groups from Union to as far away as Somerville, Bayonne, Sparta, Perth Amboy and Morristown have attend Attack's seminar sessions. Attack is now signing up groups for 2010 sessions, sign up your group now!!! These seminars are FREE of charge and all attending children receive a discount card good for purchases during the New Year! Attack is a great location for all area children to attend a seminar. EIGHT YEAR OLD SCOUT HAS AMAZING PULL AT MLB SEMINAR!!!
When Pack 116, Den 2 from Roselle Park arrived at Attack of the Baseball Cards for an MLB CLUBHOUSE SEMINAR no one could have expected what would happen. The group of excited eight year olds came to find out about sports cards, collecting, the hobby and to earn a merit badge. The children learned about the history of sportscards, how to store their cards, the difference between hobby & retail and programs for children run at Attack. Owner Steve Mandy fielded numerous questions from the group. As part of the session, the childen were given the chance to win prizes playing a couple rounds of Pack Wars. The session ended, as always, with the childen being given a bag with free cards from Attack as well as a free gift collectors kit provided by the Major League Baseball Players Association. The MLB Kits contain a free Sports Card Mini-Album, a Collectors Guide Booklet and a free card packs. That was when the real fun started. As always, when opening packs, one has the chance to receive rare cards. AND ONE DID! Young Carmine C. opened his pack of 2007 Topps Opening Day Baseball and showed his mother a card that he thought might be worth a lot. Mrs. C. approached owner Steve Mandy and asked, "my son thinks he got an expensive card in his pack, this isn't expensive is it?". The youngster than handed Mandy a 2007 Topps Opening Day, Kenji Johjima, Rare Serially Numbered ONE OF ONE Printers Plate!!! The metal printers plate card with rounded corners, as explained to the mother and child, was used in the printing of the card by Topps. It was further explain who Kenji Johjima, Japanese catcher for the Seattle Mariners, is and also how popular a player he is. It was also explained that the ONE OF ONE printed on the card back represents the fact that this is the ONLY CARD PRODUCED, the ONLY ONE THAT EXISTS!!! The youngster was provided with a free magnetic holder for the card and advise on saving his rare find. Needless to say, a new card collector was born!
